FAST food giant KFC has confirmed it is looking to move to Daventry.
The news comes as rumours have been going around the town about a possible move to the site of The Falconer pub in Ashby Road.
But while a spokesman for the company said there were plans for a store, no suitable location has yet to be found.
A KFC spokesman said: “We are looking to open a restaurant in Daventry due to popular demand from our fans in the area, although we haven’t yet been able to find a suitable location.”
There are currently 800 stores across the United Kingdom selling the store’s range of chicken flavoured with 11 different herbs and spices.
If a KFC store was to be built then it could lead to a number of new jobs in the town. The spokesman added: “A new restaurant would create around thirty jobs in the community, so we would love to hear from anybody with news of a potential site.”
The news has been welcomed by the man responsible for generating new jobs at Daventry District Council (DDC). Portfolio holder for economic, employment and regeneration Cllr Chris Over said: “Anyone who brings jobs into the town has to be welcomed.
“The promise of 30 jobs shows they have done their work and it would not be a fleeting stay.”
