Businessman expands firm

A HELLIDON businessman has announced expansion plans for his company which will create up to 14 new jobs.

Peter Cheeseman, group chairman of the Merton Group UK Ltd, has secured a funding package through Natwest Commercial Banking and an East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) grant which will enable the firm to purchase new premises.

The Merton Group, which was founded in 1978 and is based in Leicester, manufacturers disposable paper products and supplies cleaning and hygiene products to a range of industries.

Mr Cheeseman, from Hellidon, said: “The group has thrived over the last 33 years because we produce quality products and we always put our customers first.

“We also believe in two very important things - the future of manufacturing in the UK and producing our products with the environment in mind.”

“By purchasing the new property we will be able to expand on the range of products we already manufacture, create more employment opportunities, improve our carbon footprint and help make the UK economy stronger.”
