BREAKING NEWS: Pilot dies after aeroplane crash in Northamptonshire

The pilot whose light aircraft crashed at a Northamptonshire airfield has died, police have confirmed.

Emergency services were called to Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield at 12.10pm.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire police said: “Police can now confirm that a pilot has died following a light aircraft accident at Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield in south Northamptonshire.

“A team from the Air Accident Investigation Branch in Farnborough, Hampshire, is now conducting an investigation into the incident supported by officers from Northamptonshire Police.

“The next of kin of the deceased are also being notified at this time.

“No further statement will be released on this tonight,” the spokesman added.
