Birds of prey swoop on Holdenby House

There will be a falconry display alongside a wide range of Easter events coming to Holdenby House at the weekend.

Holdenby Falconry will have displays running at 2pm and 3.30pm and will be a chance to see a wide range of creatures. It is part of a series of events happening over the weekend.

On Easter Sunday and Monday, hot cross buns and cream teas will be served in Victorian tearoom which will be ideal for a special day out.

A number of plants grown in the gardens at Holdenby House for sale in the shop and there will be an Easter Egg Hunt and Activity Packs, so plenty for the children to enjoy.

The gardens will be open from 11am until 5pm on both days, with the house opening at noon on Monday.

The house is only open to the public for three days in 2014.

Visitors will get the rare opportunity to see inside the magnificent Holdenby once the palace of King James I and prison of King Charles I, and to see a small display of how the BBC transformed the exterior of the house for the filming of the most recent adaptation of Great Expectations.
