THE number of Daventry district councillors is to be cut from May, meaning all 36 seats will be up for elections in May.

The Government has confirmed the number of councillors will be cut from the current 38 to 36. The number of wards will also be cut from 24 to 16.

This year’s DDC elections on Thursday, May 3 will be staged in accordance with the Order. This means elections will take place for all 36 seats on the council this year (elections by one-third of the Council’s seats will resume in future years).

Voters may also find themselves in a newly-named or different electoral ward than previous years due to boundary changes, with representation by a different number of councillors.
