Benefits cap hits 11 in district

The benefits cap introduced by the Government came into force in Daventry district on Monday.

Daventry District Council said the Department for Work and Pensions indicated that 11 claimants in the district would be affected out of 4,800. The cap is £500 per week for couples and lone parents, and £350 a week for single people. The benefits cap affects anyone aged 16 to 64 receiving Jobseeker’s allowance, child benefit, child tax credits, housing benefit, carer’s allowance and employment and support allowance.
