Bells ring out for a-pealing competition in Daventry

Five teams of bellringers from around the Daventry district met at St John the Baptist Church, Hellidon on Saturday afternoon.

Experienced bellringers from Southam, John and Jenny Thorne, had been asked to judge the competition and were enjoying th sun while marking the accuracy of rhythm or striking.

After a short service led by the Rev Roy Wilford and tea in the village hall, the judges made their decision.

The winner was the team led by Carole Pullin who were presented with the Ron Woodward Trophy to hold for the year between them.

In the evening, the ringers moved on to Willoughby Church where they held a joint practice with the Rugby District ringers.
