ARMED police and a dog team was sent out to Daventry on Monday afternoon after reports of a man in possession of a gun.
The police were alerted at around 2.45pm and sent officers to the town centre.
Eyewitnesses said one search dog, two armed officers and plain clothed police apparently searched in the Bowen Square area. They then went over to the town’s Southbrook estate.
A spokesman for the police said the officers were sent out as a precaution and after carrying out searches at different locations, nothing was found and no one was arrested.
