THREE Daventry students were given the opportunity of a lifetime when a school trip sent them to Jinja in Uganda.

The recent trip gave the sixth form students of The Parker E-ACT Academy (William Parker School) a chance to join an international student conference.

Tobias Bateman, Kristina Leeson and Eloise Gregory, accompanied by their teacher, Mr Flanagan, met other students both from Northamptonshire and South Eastern Uganda.

They met their counterparts at the academy’s twin school, Iganga High. The international student conference featured a number of interesting debates ranging from global citizenship, sustainable development, restorative justice and international trade.

When not joining the debates the students had the chance to visit Ugandan landmarks such as the source of the River Nile and the Itanda Falls.

In the next few weeks the students will be sharing their experience with the whole school by presenting an assembly and the trip will be repeated next year.
