A5 closed near Weedon after '˜serious collision'

Emergency services are currently dealing with serious collision on the A5 in Weedon, which is likely to leave a section of the road closed until at least 7pm.

The A5 is currently shut in both directions from the A45 crossroads at Weedon to the A42 roundabout at Towcester after a crash involving two lorries and a car.

Two air ambulances having attended the scene this afternoon.

PC Dave Lee from the Northamptonshire Roads Policing Unit, tweeted that the A5 junction with Heyford Lane, Weedon, will be closed until at least 7pm tonight.

Motorists are advised to use alternative route and diversions are in place.

For southbound traffic exit the A5 at Weedon Bec and follow the route marked with a solid square on the diversion signs.

For northbound traffic exit the A5 at Towcester and follow the route marked with a solid circle symbol.
