A TEAM of volunteers helped create 13 quilts in a day at a craft shop event in aid of sick children.
Volunteers asssembled at Craft and Quilts, at the Heart of the Shires shopping village, on Thursday, June 28. They hand-made quilts in a range of sizes for newborn babies in incubators, through to adult-sizes.
Shop owner Ann Dowton said: “We had 10 people working through the day up to 7pm, and some of them took pieces home as well – it was a bit of a sweatshop.
“They were all for Project Linus, which collects blankets and quilts for seriously ill and terminally ill children in hospital.
“It’s a project really aimed at quilters so we throught it would be good to take part.
“We used fabric donated by Makower, plus scraps and whatever else we had around to make them.
“It was a fantastic day and I’d like to thank all the girls who took part.”
