LAST month was the coldest June in a quarter of a century.

Figures released by Pitsford Hall Weather Station on Monday showed the average temperature in the district in June was 14C, 1.4C below average, the coolest since 1987.

More than double the month’s average rain fell (123.9mm – 131.3 per cent above average) making it the wettest June since 2007.

Figures from the station show that although January to May were drier than average, the wet April and June make the first half of 2012 the wettest since 2007 for Northamptonshire.

We also saw less than 60 per cent of June’s average sunshine.
