West end joy with musical on the stage

CATS at the Royal and Derngate, Northampton.

Although only 20 mins up the A45, I felt I had been transported to the West End.

From the very moment I stepped into the auditorium of the Derngate stage, I was transfixed with amazing staging and a perfectly crafted atmosphere/.

The show starts with a surprise for the audience when the moggies pounce on arrivals throughout the theatre. But as the music begins with classic song Memories they leap and bound onto the stage.

Rum Tum Tugger, was a favourite, swaggering around the stage and a hit with women both on and off the stage. The energy and effort in the dance routines and the obvious enjoyment of the whole crew left me breathless.

Memory, which was sung beautifully, you could have a heard a pin drop as the audience was captivated by this classic song. Overall a puurrfect night, and a must see!
