TICKETS have gone on sale for a music festival featuring a number of big names.
Fairport’s Cropedy Convention runs from Thursday August 9 to Saturday August 11 and sees Dennis Locorriere, new wave act Squeeze and folk artists Bellowhead joining the likes of Joan Armatrading and The Saw Doctors who have been previously announced.
It has also been confirmed that in early August, Fairport Convention will be appearing at the Woodford Halse Social Club for a warm up gig before the festival.
Thursday night will see folk rock orchestra Bellowhead perform. The band has been performing for eight years and they play more than 20 instruments and have six vocalists.
The final act on the festival’s opening night is Squeeze who first formed in 1974 and are famous for the hit songs including Cool for Cats and Up the Junction
Their style has been described as classic guitar pop meets post-punk realism. Featuring the songwriting partnership of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, Squeeze has a raft of chart hits to its credit.
The Saw Doctors will be on the stage on the festival’s second night alongside folk performer Richard Thompson who returns to the festival for the first time tin three years.Closing the Friday night will be Joan Armatrading who will be performing material from her new album.
The festival’s final night will see a performance from Dennis Locorriere. He is best known as the former front man for Dr Hook which performed regularly for 18 years between 1967 and 1985 and will be taking to the stage with a set that combines his great songwriting with a distinctive voice.
He will appear before the legendary Fairport Convention who will be playing alongside some musical guests in their 45th anniversary year.
Discount tickets are available before May 31 and they cost £70 for Saturday only, £90 for Friday and Saturday only and £100 for all three days of the festival.
The warm up gig in Woodford Halse will see Fairport Convention appear alongside guests.
This will take place on Monday August 6 and Tuesday August 7 and starts at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event cost £22 on both nights. The band has performed warm up gigs many times at the social club.
Fairport’s Cropredy Convention comes to the village of Cropredy near to Chipping Warden.
