A baroque chamber group will be providing a summer concert at a village church next month.
Fiori Musicali, based at Preston Capes, are to perform at St Mary and All Saints Church in Fotheringhay, near Kettering on Sunday August 10.
The group, which provides classical music concerts across the country, will begin their performance with George Frideric Handel’s Dixit Dominus.
Grace Davidson, an acclaimed singer with accolades from across Europe has made many appearances on television. She was most recently featured on BBC Four programme Sacred Music and will be the principal soloist for the show.
Dixit Dominus, one of Handel’s psalm settings, was completed in 1707 during the composer’s foray into Italy. It is one of his earliest surviving baroque works.
The concert will also feature a performance of work Vivaldi with Antonio Caldara while well-known baroque violinist Pauline Nobes will lead Fiori’s violinists.
Penelope Rapson, director of Fiori Musicali, said: “Fiori have built up a real following for 17th- and 18th century music, taking this music to some of the remoter areas of the country, including picturesque villages from Rutland to Somerset.”
Penelope hopes that many people will come and see them in their home county.
She added: “But this is an opportunity to hear us on our home patch and Fotheringhay is a perfect setting for this music”.
The concert begins at 7.00pm on Sunday August 10. Tickets cost £20, or £15 with a restricted view.
