The further easing of lockdown restrictions on Monday, April 12 means that we can start to look at some stunning staycation spots right here on our doorstep.
An unforgettable sleepover in a medieval church. Church camping, or ‘Champing’ began from the quiet village of Aldwincle, one of Northamptonshire’s hidden gems. You arrive to find your camping beds and chairs set up along with tea and coffee making provisions. You have sole use of the church, so it’s only you and your friends or family staying the night. Lanterns and fairy lights are also set out, as All Saints doesn’t have a power supply, giving you the chance for a complete get-away amongst the cosy setting of glorious limestone arcades and pillars. You’ll have a sound night’s sleep, surrounded by solid walls and a robust roof, recently repaired, made possible by a grant awarded by the Cultural Recovery Fund for Heritage. In the morning, you can even order a hot breakfast, cooked and delivered to your church door. The large open interior is perfect for a weekend adventure with friends, special occasion celebrations with the whole family gathered together, or for those simply seeking the comfort an ancient s Photo: Northamptonshire Britain's Best Surprise
Why camp out at Catanger Llamas this April? Llama trekking is an invigorating outdoor activity, and llamas are naturally two metres long, so everyone is at a safe distance during their visit to this wonderful farm. Glamping reopens on April 12 and is described as ‘social
distancing heaven’; a traditional Gypsy Caravan and Shepherd Hut on two separate locations with their own self-contained facilities. This spring the team will also be welcoming new arrivals; ten crias (baby llamas). When hospitality restrictions are lifted, lunch nearby can be enjoyed at the highly recommended Ten Hands Cafe Bar in Towcester. Equally recommended for dinner is the
award-winning Truva Charcoal Grill & Bar in Towcester. Photo: Northamptonshire Britain's Best Surprise

Stanford Hall Caravan Park is only a few miles from main roads in acres of well-kept grass lawns, interspaced by trees and surrounded by woods. Stanford Park is a short walk away, with a private trail for caravaners that takes you through the park and into the ancient woodland. Freshly grown vegetables and lamb from the estate can be purchased at the shop. The Chequers Pub is just a 15-minute walk away, in the local village of Swinford.
