Spa review: Sheer relaxation at Whittlebury Hall

Whittlebury Hall.
Whittlebury Hall.

Located on the cusp of the border between Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, the quaint surrounds of Whittlebury are the perfect place to escape from the frenetic business of every-day life.

And where better to spend one’s free time, but Whittlebury Hall?

The Day Spa.

The Day Spa.

My visit to this luxurious hotel and spa resort was a real treat offering a chance to try out some of the newest treatments at the Day Spa, which included ‘Strawberries and Cream’, the Elemis facial and the signature massage- absolutely ideal for those in need of relaxation.

The staff on arrival were so helpful and welcoming, providing a comprehensive tour of the establishment before thew start of my treatment.

The heat and ice experience was the perfect place to start the day, as you work your way through a number of individual rooms before braving the freezing water bucket!

Next up was the Hydrotherapy Pool, which incorporates underwater and over water pressure jets to create a ‘Jacuzzi’ effect which provides therapeutic properties. The warm water helps relieve pain and induces muscle relaxation, great for any aches and pains!

The Elemis facial is targeted to your skin type and includes a skin scrub and a mask that produces really wonderful results. Your skin is left feeling looking cleansed and radiant.

The massage experience is tailored to you. You can pick which areas you want to be focused on and the pressure is to your desired requirements.

The ‘Strawberry and Cream’ treatment consists of salt and oil to smooth away the skin which left me feeling amazing. This is followed by a choice of either a face and scalp massage or foot massage, on a heated bed.

I chose the latter and found it to be relaxing with the therapist is great at explaining each step and ensuring the pressure is to your requires preference. This treatment really does leave you feeling refreshed and the skin smells and feels lovely.

And what better to round off the day but with dinner is served in the Astons restaurant? This consists of a wide range of courses each are full of rich flavours and filling.

And when it comes to turning in, I found the rooms are up to date, have great views and spacious and have everything you would require from accommodation (breakfast is also fantastic).

I would highly recommend Whittlebury Hall for sheer relaxation.
