THE hills of Kilworth House Theatre will be alive with the sound of music as the famous Rodgers and Hammerstein show comes to the stage.
The Sound of Music will be coming to the open-air venue starting on Tuesday and runs until Sunday, September 16.
It is based on the heartwarming true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers with many memorable songs, including My Favourite Things, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, Do-Re-Mi and The Sound of Music.
There will be a familiar face taking the role of Maria Von Trapp portrayed by Julie Andrews in the film.
Helena Blackman, pictured above, finished as the runner up to eventual winner Connie Fisher in the BBC talent search How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
She said: “I originally played the part of Maria while I was at secondary school when I was sixteen years old. Six years later I sang for Lord Lloyd Webber on the show and came second.
“Since that time I feel very honoured to have played many roles and toured around the country and many parts of the world. Now, six years after the TV show, I am thrilled to be finally playing Maria at Kilworth House Theatre.
“I have heard so much about it from other actors who have played there. In another six years who knows, I might be playing Mother Abbess.”
Tickets cost between £20 and £30 and can be booked by calling the box office on 01858 881939 or visit www.kilworthhousetheatre.co.uk.
