HE MIGHT be known for his many impressions on television shows but Rory Bremner is looking forward to getting back on the stage.
The satirist will be joined by Red Dwarf star Hattie Hayridge and jazz musician Ian Show for a show called Rory Bremner and Friends which comes to the Royal stage in Northampton as part of a UK tour.
Rory said: “It is a bit of a variety show. Hattie and Ian, who are both brilliant, do the first half of the show and then I do the second.
“I have been desperate to get back on to the stage. There is nothing like doing the show in front of a live audience and the immediate feedback you get from them gives you a really good feeling.
“It has also been great to see parts of the country that you don’t normally get to see like Northampton. You don’t visit these places when you do the big tours.”
People expecting to see some familiar impressions at the show will not be disappointed.
Rory added: “There are a lot of topical jokes so there is stuff about the alternative vote and the royal wedding and Barack Obama.
“However the biggest laughs come from doing the old favourites such as John Prescott and David Blunkett so there are a lot of jokes about those two in the show.
“I would say to people come along and see a show full of variety with a lot of laughs.”
Tickets cost £18 and can be booked by calling the Royal and Derngate’s box office on 01604 624811.
