A MUSIC event will be held in the town on Saturday.
The summer Samba Daventry Youth Day Event will take place at The Hollows from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday.
There will be entertainment from bands, singers, theatre and martial arts, and music acts include rock, acoustic and covers. The majority of the acts are local young people who will be showcasing their talents.
Football sessions will be run by coaches from West Bromwich Albion plus there will be a range of giant inflatable games (slide, bouncy castles, gladiator, bungee run, rodeo bull.) Refreshments will be provided in the form of a hog roast and an ice cream van.
There will be hosting stalls to promote their services including the Phoenix Youth Centre, Daventry and District Housing (DDH) and Northampton College.
Daventry resident CJ Smith, 16, a member of the DD Youth Board who is helping to organise the event, said: “This is the second time we’ve run the Summer Samba, and this year promises to be the best yet.
“We’ll have different bands, dancers and all sorts of acts, plus a hog roast and rodeo bull.
“There will be different organisations promoting all the groups and activities that currently take place in Daventry for young people, including the Prince’s Trust programme.
“It’s often said that there is nothing to do in Daventry for young people, but there is a lot if you look.
“We are always looking for people to join the Youth Board, where young people can volunteer to plan activities and events like this one.
“We’re really looking forward to the event. It’s brilliant to be working with the Phoenix Centre this year, and that lots of local young people will have the opportunity to perform at the event.”
Entrance to the event is free and is part of the Daventry Arts Festival organised by DDH. For more on the arts festival, call 01327 707500 or visit www.ddh.org.uk
