The Rocky Horror Show at Milton Keynes Theatre - Review.
WITH hit songs and dance routines including pelvic thrusts to drive you insane, you can see why The Rocky Horror Show has lasted for 40 years.
The story is of newly engaged Brad and Janet who go off to celebrate their announcement but brake down in the car. When they stop by in a seemingly abandoned house, their lives will be transformed forever.
For a show that has been running for the past four decades, it is always going to be compared to other productions.
This latest production hits every single mark accurately. Oliver Thornton plays a Frank N Furter oozing with the kind of confidence which makes him a joy to watch.
But he’s the not only one as the cast is absolutely excellent. Philip Franks as the narrator, and the part is traditionally heckled by the audience, has brilliant comic timing and delivers some wonderful comebacks to the comments from the auditorium. Sam Attwater and Dani Harmer played the sweetness of Brad and Janet well before being turned upon their arrival into the house. Indeed, there’s not a single duff performance.
But everyone is going to remember the songs from the show and Rocky Horror has some classic pelted out by the cast which had the audience up and dancing right from the very first moment. The choreography was slick, well timed and fabulously funny.
The atmosphere and the sense of fun created by both the cast and the audience which means the show has been lasted for 40 years. At the end you’ll be wanting to do the time warp over and over again.
