Feast of food at show

Gourmands across the region will be left salivating when some of the best food and drink across the countycomes toHoldenby later this month.

The Northamptonshire Food Show @ Holdenby, which is in its seventh year, will be running on Saturday, June 15 to Sunday, June 16.

Thousands of visitors will be able to sample from condiments, artisan cheeses, home cured and fresh meat, dairy products, confectionary, bakery, wine, beer and other drinks,

Cookware and other food related products will also be on show and available for purchase and a wide range of products and demonstrations.

Event organisers Oakleigh Fairs have also announced that Sophie Grigson will be offering cookery demonstrations throughout the weekend.

She is a keen champion of domestic cookery, eminently practical and keen on eating well. She has dedicated her career to cooking simple, easy dishes using new and exciting ingredients.

Having published 24 cookery books, Sophie is synonymous with great food and has a natural ability to teach cookery in an informal and fun way.

She said: ‘I just love the relaxed atmosphere and enthusiasm of everyone who works and displays and takes part in the Northampton Food and Craft Show.

“There’s so much to explore, taste and discover. Our cooking tent is obviously my favourite spot, and I’ll be demonstrating a number of summer dishes to try at home, alongside other terrific chefs.

“For me the big bonus, of course, is that I’m back in beautiful, bountiful Northamptonshire, my old stamping ground.”

There will also be a range of professional chefs offering advice, workshops and demonstrations. Among them include Andy Kelly, the head chef at Sophia’s Restaurant in Northampton and Wendi Jarrett – champion of healthy eating that really packs a Carribean punch. MasterChef Ondine Hartgroves will also be on hand to demonstrate their culinary skills with visitors.

There will be tours of the Kitchen Garden with Matt Hughes, head gardener at Holdenby as well as cookery demonstrations from Holdenby’s very own produce from the garden with Sarah Favell while there is also wine and beer tasting throughout the weekend.

The Food Show will also be working in partnership with Rachel Mallows and her team at The Mallows Company in support of the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards which have been a key feature of the Northamptonshire Food Show for the last four years

Entrance to the Northamptonshire Food Show @ Holdenby is £7.50 for adults, £6.50 for concessions and £3 for children aged between five and 16. A family ticket costing £18 is available.
