Don’t miss this super sweet family event at popular play cafe in Northamptonshire later this month
Don’t miss the two opportunities to attend this super sweet family event at a popular play cafe in Northamptonshire later this month.
Jaime Elderton is the founder of The Storybook Play Cafe in Bishops Court, Daventry, which she launched after selling her former business specialising in pop-up events for pre-loved children’s clothing.
Jaime sold Little Loved Threads UK in order to make her dream of opening The Storybook Play Cafe a reality, and the venture welcomed the public for the first time in February 2026.
The founder admitted she does not think there is ever a right time to launch a business, but she could envision her dream becoming a reality when the property became available. With limited options in Daventry for children, she knew she had to do it.

Jaime describes the play cafe as offering a “relaxing and magical atmosphere for children to engage in Montessori and role play”. The imaginations of the young people run wild while their parents enjoy the experience too.
Being located behind The Arc Cinema and near a car park with three hours of free parking was a draw, as well as the fact Jaime describes Bishops Court as “the perfect little quaint courtyard”.
Jaime believes the theme of the play cafe is what sets it apart from other family venues, as it is consistent throughout with an extra level of magic and creativity.
The venue had an extremely strong start, with lots of fully booked sessions, and this was accompanied by praise for how much The Storybook Play Cafe was needed in the area – particularly for those who do not drive or cannot get out as easily.

People love the fact there is a separate baby room and capacity is kept at 21 bodies per session, which is quieter, more relaxed, and everyone has adequate space.
Jaime left her public services job to launch this business full time, in the hope it would become the centre of family days out, which she said was a scary leap to make.
The next event being held at The Storybook Play Cafe is the ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’, with two sessions for families to attend. These will take place from 12pm until 2pm on Tuesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 23.
Included in the ticket price is the chance for each child to adopt a teddy to have a picnic with and take home, decorate their own teddy bear fondant biscuit, and they will be given a certificate of adoption.
There will be the usual play on offer throughout the session, as well as a snack plate and drink for each child.
