Dance on ice at the leisure centre

THERE will be plenty of festive fun between Christmas and new year when an ice rink arrives at Daventry Leisure Centre.

Daventry District Council (DDC) and Daventry Active will offer the use of a synthetic ice rink on Thursday, December 29 and 30 using funding from the Big Lottery Fund, secured by the Council to promote play and physical activity among children and young people.

People can hire skates for each session and experience the joys of ice skating as well as buy refreshments.

DDCs community, culture, and leisure portfolio holder Cllr Alan Hills said: “It’s fantastic that the Council and Daventry Active have managed to secure the hire of this ice rink for families to enjoy over the Christmas holiday.

“Parents and children will be able to experience all the joys of ice skating but without the cold, and I hope that lots of people take advantage of this opportunity at the leisure centre and make it part of their Christmas festivities.”

The rink will be available on Thursday, December 29, from 12pm to 8pm, and Friday, December 30, from 10am to 6pm.

Each 30-minute skating session costs £4 for adults, which includes the hire of the skates, while children under the age of 16 can go for free.

Children under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult on the ice.

It is recommended that people book times on the ice in advance by calling Daventry Leisure Centre on 01327 871144.
