MILTON Keynes Theatre’s new year line-up could be the perfect antidote to those post-Christmas blues.
David Essex brings his record breaking rollercoaster ride All The Fun of the Fair to the theatre from February 7 to 11.
Keith Jack, a former contestant on the BBC One show Any Dream Will Do, will take on the title role in Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat running from April 3 to 8. Or, if it’s a different era of music that interests you, take a trip back to the 60s with the show Save the Last Dance For Me.
Another reality star, Connie Fisher takes on the lead role in Wonderful Town, a musical about a writer trying to make it in New York.
The first national tour of 80s classic Dirty Dancing will be on from May 1 to 26 while a stage adaptation of the musical movie Sister Act will be running from June 19 to 30. It stars former Coronation Street actress Denise Black as the Mother Superior.
Drama and comedy fans will also be in for a treat with the announcement of several top shows.
David Suchet will take a break from playing Agatha Christie’s famous detective Hercule Poirot to star in Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night from March 12 to 17 which will be touring nationally before going to the West End.
Classic comedy will come to Milton Keynes as Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew arrives from March 6 to 10 while The Archers star Graham Seed will indulge in some topical humour when Yes Prime Minister takes to the stage from March 6 to 10.
Over The Rainbow celebrates the life story of Eva Cassidy and stars Strictly Come Dancing’s Brian Fortuna on January 30.
Fresh from his sell-out tour, Mock the Week regular Chris Addison, comes to Milton Keynes with his new show on February 2.
Illusionist Derren Brown will mesmerise audiences for a week-long run at the theatre. His show Svengali runs from February 27 to March 3.
Children’s favoutite The Gruffalo will be on the stage from April 26 to 28 while kids classic Fireman Sam is back by popular demand with Pontypandy Rocks! on January 29.
The 20th anniversary production of Matthew Bourne’s Nutcracker runs from February 14 to 18 and the Northern Ballet performs the enchanting fairytale Beauty and the Beast from April 17 to 21.
