A legend of comedy will be coming to the Royal and Derngate in Northampton at the beginning of the month.

Birmingham born comedian Jasper Carrott will be getting back to doing what he knows best with his new stand up show which comes to the stage on Thursday September 4. The visit to Northampton is the start of a nationwide tour which is due to finish in December.

The new show called Jasper Carrott - Stand Up and Rock! will incorporate performances from some of his musical compatriots.

Jasper Carrott first hit the nation’s television screens in his famous An Audience With Jasper Carrott and has continued to keep audiences laughing through the years with comedy shows such as Commercial Breakdown and Carrott Confidential.

He also appeared in all four series of the sitcom The Detectives alongside Robert Powell and the BBC sitcom All About Me.

The comedian was also the host of the ITV gameshow Goldenballs between 2007 and 2009.

Those accompanying Jasper on stage include his great friend Bev Bevan, whose rock credentials most would only dream of and Trevor Burton of The Move, the first band played on BBC Radio 1.

There will also be music from Geoff Turton, lead singer of the Rockin Berries, Joy Strachan-Brain the lead singer of one of the UK’s finest celtic rock bands Quill, and Danny King, Birmingham’s first ever popstar.
