The delightful characters of PG Wodehouse are given a new lease of life with this theatrical adaptation.
His most famous creations Jeeves and Wooster star in Perfect Nonsense. When a country house weekend takes a turn for the worse, Bertie Wooster is unwittingly called on to play matchmaker, but also to steal a silver cow creamer from Totleigh Towers. It is up to Jeeves to prevent further embarrassment.
This is a cleverly staged production with three actors taking on all of the larger than life roles in the novels.
Full credit must go to Robert Webb as Bertie Wooster who is charming and bumbling all at the same time. His co-stars Jason Thorne and Christopher Ryan play all the other parts. There is an almost cartoonish element to all of the other characters which fits perfectly with the comedic tone of the show.
There are several gags throughout the show and lots of laughs which I won’t spoil.
This is a comedy with plenty of British charm and warmth and is definitely worth a watch.
Jeeves and Wooster is performed at Milton Keynes Theatre until Saturday. For tickets call 0844 871 7652 or visit www.atgtickets.co.uk/miltonkeynes.
