A local group that hosts singing classes for those with chronic illnesses will continue its virtual classes until 2021.
Singing4Breathing usually hosts choir meetings across the county, however since the beginning of lockdown, classes have been adapted so that they can be held virtually.

Musician Chris Startup said: “I work with great enthusiasm and base all the songs around our lung function.
“This group is truly amazing, we have all been on this singing journey together for around five years now.
“Times have changed in the last four months but this hasn’t stopped us.

“We also have harmonica lessons to help with breathlessness too. It’s been great to see so many get online.
“Whilst we are in challenging times, I feel through lockdown Singing4Breathing has helped to bring people together through community and song.”
Alongside the singing lessons, the group has also introduced sessions with a doctor who answers questions from members.

“We have seen numbers drop for referrals to clinics, investigations for breathlessness and generally there are less numbers of people coming into doctors surgeries and hospitals due to the current global pandemic of COVID-19.
“By providing an online service with Singing4Breathing, we can help to bridge the gap for anyone managing their breathlessness whilst they may be shielding or restricting their outdoors time.”
As the advice for those most vulnerable changes, the group will continue to keep in touch with members.
