Saturday's NHS bulletin revealed Covid-19 has claimed five more victims at Northampton General Hospital.

Two patients died on Wednesday this week (June 17) after testing positive for coronavirus and another three on Thursday.

The figure for deaths at NGH is the highest among all 219 NHS Trusts in England announced today.

It takes the total number of fatalities to 283 at the Cliftonville site since the pandemic hit the county in March..

The NHS data released today (Saturday June 21) included deaths which occurred on previous days and were recorded when the latest numbers was collated at 5pm last night.

Another 210 patients have died at Northamptonshire's other main hospital, Kettering General while the Office for National Statistics also identified 127 deaths related to coronavirus in the county's care homes up to June 12.

That makes the total number of known Covid-19 deaths in the county 620.

The latest figures for infections in the county rose to 1,664 at 9am today (Saturday) with 15 new cases since the previous day.
