Northamptonshire's Covid map now shows 12 areas where virus is on its way out

Outlook is brighter as data proves lockdown is finally working

These are the 12 areas of Northamptonshire where Covid-19 is as good as gone.

An interactive Government map divides the country into areas of roughly equal population sizes and colour-codes them according to how many new coronavirus cases there have been in the last week.

Just over a month ago most of Northamptonshire was a deep purple with more than 800 new positive tests per 100,000 population per week.

Now, three Northampton neighbourhoods, one each in Kettering and Brackley, plus eight rural areas are all shown as white, indicating three or fewer cases during the seven days up to March 2.

In Northampton, the neighbourhoods of East Hunsbury, Moulton, and Boothville & Spinney Hill are all tagged "supressed" on the tell-tale map, indicating the number of cases is not published "to protect individuals' identities."

A large rural area to the west of Northampton around the villages of Harpole, Bugbrooke and Kislingbury also gets a cautionary 'all clear' — as do Daventry district villages centred in two areas around Brixworth & Spratton plus Long Buckby & Ravensthorpe.

Kettering South, Brackley South and Oundle also areas in towns with three or fewer cases.

Two Corby neighbourhoods — Great Oakley and Kingswood — are the only areas of the county where case-rates remain above 200.

Seven–day rates are expressed per 100,000 population calculated by dividing the weekly count by each area's population and multiplying by 100,000.

The interactive map shows current rates in any neighbourhood accessible by entering a postcode.

If you have Covid-19 symptoms — a high temperature, continuous cough or loss of or change in sense of smell or taste — get tested as soon as possible to confirm if you have the virus or not.

Tests can be booked on the Test and Trace app, online at HERE, or by calling 119.
