A further 119 coronavirus-related deaths have been identified at Northamptonshire care homes by the Care Quality Commission up to May 30.

Eight more patients have died while in the care of the Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trust which offers mental health, community nursing, sexual health and physiotherapy services within the county and also at prisons in Staffordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Warwickshire.

Since no locations have been confirmed for any of these deaths, they are not be counted in the Northamptonshire total.

Official figures showed no deaths in the two hospitals on June 2, May 25 — although one more victim was shown under NHFT's care on these two dates. No deaths were recorded on May 10, which was the first zero since March 29 — before the pandemic had begun to peak.

All of those dates coincided with weekends, when figures locally and nationally tend to be lower because of a lag in the reporting process.

The highest number of deaths recorded by both Northamptonshire hospitals in a single day was 17 on April 23.
