A lag in the reporting process means it can take up to four or five days — or even longer — for all the information to be collated. So data for the week ending is unlikely to be complete for the week ending June 12.

The total rose to 17 in the week ending May 29 having previously fallen from 28 in the week up to May 8 — VE Day. A week ago, the corresponding figure was 12.

Four of the fatalities revealed in today's figures all died on Thursday (June 11). Another died on Wednesday taking the toll on that day to four. That followed on Tuesday's five victims.
