A notice taped to the front door of the bank told customers: "We're so sorry. We've had to close this branch today because of an unconfirmed case of coronavirus.

"We know this is inconvenience but we have put the well-being of our team and our customers first. We hope you understand.

"This branch will open again on 31st March 2020."

HSBC customers are being advised to use mobile, online, video and telephone banking services.

Nationwide confirmed yesterday that an employee at their Moulton Park administration centre has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
