A mobile Covid-19 testing station will be set up in Northampton this weekend as the nation's battle against the virus continues.
The unit is in town for three days from Sunday until Tuesday and anyone showing symptoms of the deadly bug is urged to sign up via the Government website.

These symptoms include a new, continuous cough; high temperature; loss of or change in sense of smell or taste
Another unit is setting up in Kettering today until Sunday. Exact locations will be revealed once you have booked and essential workers will be given priority for appointments.
Both the county sites will have a one-way system that allows people with an appointment to attend for either walk-in or drive-through testing.

Hide AdNorthampton Borough Council leader Cllr Jonathan Nunn said; “Testing is a vital part of tackling this dreadful virus and the Covid-19 Mobile Testing Units, which are available in Kettering and Northampton respectively over the coming days, will provide residents who are experiencing symptoms with the opportunity to be tested locally.
“Tests are available by appointment only to anyone who is symptomatic – so that means a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or a loss or change in their sense of taste or smell.
“To book an appointment please visit the government website. Once you have booked you will be given the location of the testing site and details of how to get there.”
Latest figures released yesterday revealed there have been 1,552 positive Covid-19 tests in Northamptonshire since the bug first hit the county on March 3.

Hide AdOf those, a total of 557 have sadly died in the county's two main hospitals and care homes.
Yesterday's NHS announcement confirmed two more deaths had been reported at Northampton General Hospital — taking the total there to 248 — and two at Kettering General.
A further eight people have died while in the care of Northamptonshire Health Foundation Trusts, although no locations have been revealed for the victims. The Trust runs community and mental healthcare provider at several sites in the county and also at a number of prisons in other counties,
