Northamptonshire's vaccination teams tore up the record books by delivering nearly 60,000 Covid-19 jabs in a WEEK.

NHS data published on Thursday showed the total number of people receiving at least one dose jumped by more than 36,000.

And another 21,000-plus received a vital second dose during the seven days between March 22 and March 28.

Previously, the most jabs delivered in a week was just over 30,000.

It means 336,815 out of an estmated 581,897 over-18s in the county have received at least one dose of the life-saving vaccine — nearly 60 per cent — since the roll-out began just before Christmas.

A further 45,431 have had both jabs.

Bosses say the roll-out is continuing at pace despite NHS warnings of shortages of vaccine doses and slots are available at the Moulton Park vaccination centre for those in the top nine priority groups who have yet to get a jab.

Chris Pallot, director of the county's vaccination programme, said: “The NHS vaccination programme in Northamptonshire is making strong progress and latest figures show we have administered more than 380,000 vaccine doses in our county, including more than 335,000 first doses.

“Our focus continues to be on vaccinating cohorts one to nine and encouraging as many as possible in these groups to come forward for their vaccine.

"We are pleased to confirm that we have new appointment slots now available for next week at Moulton Park.

“If you are in an eligible group – meaning you are 50 or over, have a health condition that puts you at greater risk, or are a health or social care worker – and you haven’t booked your first dose yet, the time to do so is right now by calling 119 or online at nhs.uk/covidvaccination.”
