A Northamptonshire primary school used the return of Premier League football to unite their team and have some fun.

Weedon Bec Primary School staff and pupils were invited to wear a sports shirt or bright colours to celebrate the return of live football on Wednesday (June 17).

Executive head teacher Antony Witheyman said the One Team Together/Apart Day helped to bring everyone together after nearly three months of lockdown.

"The response was amazing and pupils at home and school took photos to make a One Team Together/Apart display," he said.

"Whether we are at home or at school, together or apart, and whatever colour we wear or team we support, we are all one team.

"This is just one example of the amazing work that is going on within the school community.

"Staff, pupils and parents have all been working together as one team and will continue to do so, providing the best possible opportunities in these unprecedented times for the children of Weedon Bec."
