A Northamptonshire primary school PE teacher has started his own set of challenges for the pupils to do at home to keep them active during the coronavirus closure.

"It's something that all of the staff are doing to create work for their children to do while they are off and PE can be one of the things that gets left behind and neglected," he said.

"I didn't want to give them homework as such, I just wanted to give them something fun to do.

"I want to get them engaged with their grown-ups and not spend the whole day sitting down and writing."

The first of Mr Chambers' challenges asks the pupils to stand at least three steps from a bin or box and try to throw five balls, or socks in the teacher's case, inside.

Others include squats, keepy-uppies and a throwing and catching relay which gets the adults involved.

The videos have been uploaded to the school's ClassDojo app and social media pages for the children to access at home.
