Amazon puts the spotlight on charity stars

The team at Amazon in Daventry recently brought together ten schools and charities from the Northampton area for another rendition of the Amazon’s Got Music talent show, which celebrates talent from Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) schools and charities.
Funds raised from the talent show, which ran for the first time in 2024, will go towards the participating organisations.
BBC Radio Northampton presenter Daisie-Belle Downer hosted the show, which featured performances from charities like Broomhalls, Northamptonshire Carers, SENsational, The Cube and the Performing Room.

The event was held at the prestigious Royal & Derngate Theatre, where Amazon Daventry employees have previously volunteered, working on the auditorium’s renovation.
Performers took to the stage to showcase their musical talents, sharing their creativity with an audience of family, friends, and supporters. Acts included dancers, singers, mime artists and readings, all facilitated by a team of Amazon volunteers.
Raffle prizes were also up for grabs on the night for each participating charity and school.
Charlotte Dear from Canto Learning said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Amazon team in Daventry for their support. This event gives people from right across the county a chance to perform, express themselves, and feel truly valued. It’s our hope that this continues to be an annual celebration where the SEND community can unite and give every person the spotlight they deserve.”

Alex Barrett, Site Leader at Amazon in Daventry, added: “Supporting people in our community is at the heart of what we do here in Daventry. Amazon’s Got Music brought together some truly remarkable performers from schools and charities across Northamptonshire. Events like this remind us why community partnerships matter – watching participants discover their voices and build their self-belief is exactly the kind of positive impact we want to create. Well done to everyone!”
Stacey Morris from Creating Tomorrow said: “Creating Tomorrow were delighted to be asked again to support Amazon with this amazing opportunity, because of their commitment to celebrating and investing in the SEND community. This closely aligns with our own mission of creating opportunities where every young person can thrive. Working with the wider community is central to that mission, when families, organisations, employers, education providers, and local groups come together with a shared purpose, incredible things happen. Pathways open, confidence grows, and entire communities are strengthened. Amazon’s Got Music is a powerful example of what true collaboration can achieve.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates. Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need. The West Midlands Multibank opened this year, with Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC). The initiative has donated more than 8 million surplus goods to over 600,000 families across Wales, Scotland, Greater Manchester, London, Tees Valley and Birmingham. This year, the Multibank will send 1 million orders to families across the UK.
Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.
Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose. Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8 million to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
