Students shared seasonal joy with Astley Hall by sending hand-crafted cards, letters and Easter eggs.

Staff at the home said the gifts were gratefully received by residents, who have been busy writing replies to the children.

Stacey Drake, careers and employability lead at Daventry Hill School, an award-winning school with students with cognition and learning difficulties, said: "We have started a partnership with Astley Hall to set up a pen-pal scheme.

"Students have sent in their first letters and treats and next week we are getting a visit from Daniel Worley, events co-ordinator, from the home who is going to spend some time with students about the different work opportunities are available in a care home, and also deliver some replies to their letters.

"We are hoping to grow on our partnership, offering support to the care home where possible."
