Tony Kent, who says 60s and early 70s music is 'in his blood', has four million followers on social media platforms with Around Sounds.

He said: "I’ve been with music for many years now, from doing the odd disco here and there for friends to raise cash for new equipment.

"I often played for the wedding crowd when you had to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves - this is hard work, believe me."

For many years Tony did the 'circuits' before moving on to playing in a nightclub where he stayed until he hung up his slipmats.

Tony, 73, added: "My real passion was the music from the 60s and early 70s, this music is in my blood. I was lucky enough to live and come through the whole 60s era and loved every minute of it. Of course, the early 70s glam rock scene was great stuff too.

"Now you will find me here doing live shows again, back to square one as they say, but still loving my music, I like the live interaction with people."

The 60's Around Sounds page was launched on July 30, 2018. From humble beginnings, Tony has worked hard to gain respect from listeners around the globe.

Tony has subsequently launched the 70’s Around Sounds, and lately, the 80’s Around Sounds Facebook pages. These two pages collectively now have over 1.2 million followers and continue to grow.

One feature that's particularly popular with listeners is the daily playing of The Pretenders hit 'I'll Stand by You'. Tony has played it on every show in honour of key workers who have played such a vital part in helping since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

He added: "I don't make any money from it, I do it because I love it.

"I'm thrilled with how Around Sounds has grown and hope it continues to do so."
