Long Buckby estate agents supports dedicated community litter pickers withy key donations

Vital equipment has been donated to a group of dedicated litter pickers by an estate agents in Long Buckby.

Angela Edgington, director at Jackson Grundy Estate Agents, presented the donation to Nicola Elliott and Deborah Brannan, of Northants Litter Wombles.

They provided five litter picking signs that have been used for clean ups in Crick, West Haddon and Long Buckby.

Nicola, who set up West Haddon Wombles in 2020, said the team were grateful for the goods.

She said: "We will lend them out to other litter picking groups who also wish to rid our roadsides of litter."

West Haddon Wombles have collected 435 bags of rubbish since February 2021 -153 of those bags came from Crick Weighbridge lay-by they have cleared over four weekends in April.

Nicola said: "May’s challenge is the A5 lay-by between Kilsby and DIRFT.

"We made a start last weekend and with the help of the Norse contractors, we collected 60 plus bags of litter. We are returning today (Sunday) morning to continue our pick there."

She said now that Covid restrictions are lifting, more mini group picks can be arranged.

"We have many members who have joined the group to meet like-minded people and it’s great meeting up with Wombles to pick," Nicola added.
