Green-minded building company in Welton makes pledge to plant 5,000 trees to help environment

The director of a building company in Welton felt keen to give something back to the environment in a bid to offset the firm's carbon footprint.

Ryan Lange has made a pledge to plant 5,000 trees over the next ten years.

He kicked off his promise with R Lange Construction by planting 250 trees at Dodford Manor.

Ryan said: “As builders, we are conscious that much of our work involves altering the natural environment and through this pledge we hope to give something back.

"The Woodland Trust describes trees as the 'ultimate carbon capture and storage machines'. In fact, a young wood with mixed native species can lock up 400+ tonnes of carbon per hectare in trees, roots and soil."

He said planting more trees is a great way to help reduce carbon emissions, but it is only part of the solution. Ryan and his team also work to ensure each project is as sustainable as possible.

Ryan added: “Increasingly our customers want to know what measures we are taking to be more sustainable as a business. We reuse and recycle materials where possible, but we know this is not always enough.

"With this pledge we want to take things a step further and we are always open to new ways to make our business more climate friendly."
