'Ecstatic' staff and parents celebrate Comic Relief funding for pre-school in Yelvertoft

Staff and parents in Yelvertoft say they are 'ecstatic' after securing Comic Relief funding for their pre-school.

It means children will benefit from the Curiosity Approach Project, which fits perfectly in current changing technological times.

Yelvertoft Pre-School is a registered charity and relies heavily on fundraising and donations, organised by its parent led voluntary committee.

The pre-school is set within the grounds of Yelvertoft Village Hall, and has maintained it’s support to the local community by remaining open during the lockdown period, adhering to all the safety precautions, whilst providing open ended opportunities for children aged 2-4 to learn through play.

After completing an application form for the Comic Relief Grant, the pre-school staff and committee were ecstatic to hear they had been successful recipients of an award to work towards becoming accredited with the Curiosity Approach.

The Curiosity Approach helps bring curiosity, awe and wonder into early childhood learning and creating the 'thinkers and doers' of the future.

Lead fundraiser Milly Fyfe said: "The overall aim is to empower, ignite passion and excitement in our children as well as giving them the tools and knowledge to create beautiful play and learning opportunities within our rural setting.

"The money received has already gone towards purchasing natural and sustainable resources such as wooden weighing scales and coconut husk snack bowls, as well as cost to become ‘Curiosity Approach accredited’."

Milly added: "We are all ecstatic."
