“The club's management team is excited to work with both commercial and local businesses, to get the community fit and healthy again and to meet everyone and show them around once we’ve completed the fit out.”

The popular national brand is the first to announce a move to the shopping parade following a takeover by new management for Bowen Square.LCP acquired the 110,395 square foot shopping parade last month and hopes to ‘attract high street names’, as well as working with independent retailers.

The deal for the large two-storey, 7,600 square foot building, which has operated as a cinema, bingo hall, pool club and nightclub over the years, marks the first tenancy LCP has agreed.

Martin Wade, LCP asset manager, added: “We are pleased to have completed our first deal within a few weeks of taking over Bowen Square.

“By attracting a well-known gym brand to the shopping parade, we’re already expanding the offering for the local community, with a welcome and much-needed leisure facility.”

Work is expected to begin on the building this month, with a view to be ready by the beginning of April next year.
