“The show starts with the theme tune from Friends and there will be some Chaka Kahn and Bryan Adams.

“The whole thing change when my daughter comes along and she wants to party and do the kind of things I was doing in my youth.

People have been asking if they are going to hear some of my songs in the show, and I’ve been telling them you will have to wait and see.

“It is great being in that environment, especially during the beginning of the club scene.

“I would urge people to come along and see the show and party Hoff style.”

Despite being more noted for his work in front of the camera, live performances are not an alien concept to The Hoff.

He added: “I have been done plenty of live theatre before. I have done Peter Pan playing the part of Hook when I was performing in Nottingham and have had roles in Broadway and Chicago.

“One of the greatest parts I ever had was in The Producers with Mel Brooks. I loved that show.

“Working with a live audience is fun and something I am looking forward to in Northampton.”

For many people of a certain age, David is synonymous with the role of Michael Knight in Knight Rider.

“Knight Rider was a lot of fun. I always thought as Kitt as Tonto and I was the Lone Ranger. For me, the show was always like a western.

“William Daniels who was the voice of KITT, we had a great relationship, it was a perfect voice.

“We did the first season and we only met at the Christmas party because he was just doing the voice.

“There was no CGI at the time and everything we did, we did it for real.

“We also decided that it would be a fun show and there was not much in the way of death in the show or any violence.

“We decided to do the same thing with Baywatch when we did that as well.”
