Her work will be familiar to many of us who read her at school and for the countless adaptations of her novels.

And Jane Austen will have the 200th anniversary of her death celebrated with a three day festival in Daventry.

The Festival, which runs from Friday June 9 to Sunday June 11, will mostly take place in the parish church, Holy Cross which organisers say is the right period architecturally.

On the Friday night there will be a talk on Jane Austen’s gardens by Michael Brown who will be in costume.

Each of the three day there will be a Flower Festival on her and her books.

Saturday evening there will be an entertainment in words,music and dancing.

On the Sunday there will be morning worship and in the afternoon tea and cake with more planned musical entertainment to conclude the festivities in the church.

The following Thursday the June 15 the U3A will have another talk by Maureen Stiller Introducing Jane Austen-the Woman and the writer This talk will be open to visitors as well as members.

Festival tickets are available for £10 to cover the entire weekend.
