Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos. The musical is written by Harvey Fierstein and has lyrics by pop icon Cyndi Lauper. These will be the final dates before the show tours around the United Kingdom.

At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist he embarks on a mission to find him and bring him home.

Althorp Literary Festival, Althorp House, October 5-7

The festival is set to host more than 30 highly-acclaimed authors, writers, entrepreneurs and thought-leaders. With the return of The Great British Bake Off, Althorp is proud to be hosting Prue Leith as she reminisces about her all-time favourite recipes. Speakers also include one of Britain’s foremost military historians, Dan Snow, esteemed writer of TV hit Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes and one of the world’s best-loved authors, Alexander McCall Smith. Fiori present Vivaldi and Handel, Great Brington Church, October 6

Performing live with Preston Capes based ensemble Fiori Musicali in this famous country church will be favourite

soprano Judit Felszeghy with glorious music by Vivaldi accompanied by the Fiori Musicali Chamber Orchestra. Judit will be singing Vivaldi’s rarely heard Laudate Puerias well as music by Handel – one of the greatest musical geniuses in England during the early 18th century. In the programme will be arias from Handel’s great operas Alcina and Giulio Cesare, both written for the London stage in the 1720s. The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets for the concert are £20 for adults or £15 for the restricted view. Discounted tickets are available for children, students, unemployed and for blue badge holders.
