Review - One Man, Two Guv’nors at the Royal and Derngate, Northampton.

If you like a laugh, then there are plenty with this award winning show.

One Man, Two Guv’nors sees an unemployed man who ends up with two jobs at the same time. However he must keep both bosses happy without the other one knowing.

The star of the show is Gavin Spokes playing Francis Henshall. His comic timing and physicality is exhilarating and hysterical to watch. It is a superb performance and he is surely due to go onto bigger things.

For a farce to work, the script has to be incredibly tight and Richard Bean’s script is so well orchestrated that like all of the best comedys, it builds to a tremendous climax.

The best gags are not worth spoiling, but suffice to say there was plenty of amusement and laughs coming when Francis is serving dinner simultaneously.

The show has been a huge success in the West End and Broadway and you can see why. It was simply superb from start to finish.
