THE Northampton Gilbert and Sullivan Group will be laying anchor at the Royal and Derngate and perform HMS Pinafore for the group’s 60th anniversary production.

It is the best loved of the Gilbert and Sullivan works including recognisable characters such as Captain Corcoran, Sir Joseph Porter and ‘Little Buttercup’.

HMS Pinafore tells the story of unrequited love, a seasick first lord of the admiralty and his innumerable sisters, cousins and aunts, and with some of the most iconic music of all of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

Simon Crask, the group’s treasurer, said: “HMS Pinafore was Gilbert & Sullivan’s first major success, and you can see why, as it continues to be very popular with audiences today. We are incredibly proud to have reached this landmark anniversary.”

It is performed from Monday to Saturday, January 25 at 7.30pm each night. There will be a matinee at 2.30pm on Wednesday and Saturday.

Tickets are available by calling 01604 624811 or online at www.royalandderngate.co.uk.
