VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help bring library services to more people.

Daventry Library’s housebound service supports people with disabilities who can’t get out to their local library.

Customers receive a free service with a range of books, talking books, music and information selected according to their preference, and then delivered to their home.

The library is now appealing for more volunteers to help provide the service

Supervisor Elizabeth Hatfield said: “It’s for people who can’t access library services in any other way.

“We have seven volunteers who go out to see people and spend time finding out what they like to read.

“They then come back and sometimes choose which books they think would be suitable.

“They have personal contact with the volunteers which is great because a lot of these people are housebound.

“It’s also very rewarding for the volunteers because they are giving something back to the community, but we always need more people.
